Elena Kagan Sworn In As Supreme Court Justice Today

Free News Press – Today Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan was sworn-in by Chief Justice John Roberts in a private ceremony. Kagan is the fourth female justice and the first justice without experience as a judge in 40 years.

Last month Kagan was confirmed by the Senate along party lines. Only five Republicans supported her nomination and the final Talley was 63 yeas and 37 nays.

Within the next few years the Supreme Court will likely be deciding the new Arizona immigration law and the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8.
