Wildfires in Arizona and New Mexico

Arizona Wallow Wildfire Credit: Eastern Arizona IMTFree News Press – Wildfires in Arizona and New Mexico have been fueled by the high winds and low humidity.  Two towns have been evacuated in Eager and Springerville.  The Wallow fire has zero containment.  The New Mexico wildfires are pretty much under control.

Arizona Wildfire Update

The Arizona wildfires have been burning with little control over the situation.  The  Wallow fire as  has zero containment early this morning and burned around 389,000 acres.  There is 588 building that are threatened, with one damaged and eleven structures were destroyed.  The fire officials are investigating with human cause.  There are 1,943 fire personnel working on this fire.  No injuries have been reported to date.  The fire is located south and west of Alpine, Arizona. Full immediate evacuation for Eagar and Springerville were announced by Apache County Sheriff’s Office.  A pre-evacuation notice is in effect Greens Peak, Hidden Meadows, and the surrounding areas.

Horseshoe 2 has burned 106,661 acres.  There is an investigation for human cause for starting the fire.  The fire has been burning since May 8, 2011 and is currently 50 percent contained.  The evacuation order for the community of Paradise is lifted.  Whitetail and Chiricahua National Monument communites are still under evacuation orders.

Murphy Complex wildfire has consumed 67,051 acres, which started on May 30, 2011 has been 50 percent contained.  The officials say that humans caused this fire.

The Arlene wildfire burned 10,610 acres and is under control.

Laguna wildfire has burnt 751 acres and is 100 percent contained.

The Picket wildfire burnt 1,336 acres and the Bull Wildfire burn 9,711 acres.  Both of these fires are not inactive.

New Mexico Wildfire  Update

The Miller wildfire has burned 88,835 acres.  But there has been minimal fire activity being observed.  The fire is 98 percent contained.  The fire started on April 28, 2011  and is anticipated to be fully contained by August 31, 2011.

Osha wildfire burned 720 acres since it was first started on June 1, but has pretty much reached containment.
