Orange County Board of Supervisors pick Proposal 21-C for new Boundaries

Free News Press – The Orange County Board of Supervisors announced that they picked Redistricting Proposal 21-C as the new district map boundaries.  The redistricting process will address the population changes counted during the 2010 U.S. Census.  Each county needs to have a nearly equal number of populations in each of the districts.

There are five districts with around 600,000 total people in each district.  The lowest population will be district 5 with 588,699 people represented.  The largest district is number 1 with 613,490 people.  The smallest to the largest population difference is only 4.12 percent.

Anaheim, Buena Park, Fountain Valley, Irvine will be split between two districts.  The new divisions is available to review online at http://cams.ocgov.com/Web_Publisher/Agenda08_23_2011_files/images/DOC001.PDF.

There will be another public hearing that will go over the Proposal 21-C.  The meeting will be held at 10 am on September 6, 2011 at the Orange County Board Hearing Room.
