County Provides Free Flu Shots

SANTA ANA Calif. (FNP) – Orange County is now offering seasonal flu and pneumonia shots at their central facility.

The county health officials say children over six months of age and health care professionals should get a flu shot. Shots for children are free, however the standard flu shot for adults is $28 and the pneumonia shot is $73.47. Medicare is also accepted.

Immunizations are recommended for people at a high risk of severe infections. People working with children under six years of age should also be immunized.

Immunizations are also available from private physicians.

The Central Health Center is located at 832 West Central Boulevard. The shots are available from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. Offices are opened Monday through Friday, but they do close on the 2nd Friday of every month.

“Because influenza viruses are always changing getting an annual flu shot is very important,” the county said in their statement.
