La Palma Clean Up Week

LA PALMA Calif. (FNP) – The city of La Palma is offering residents the opportunity to dispose of bulky items this week.

Although most bulky items will be accepted in their “Bulky Item Spring Clean-Up” program, there are some exceptions.

Tree branches longer than four feet long will not be accepted. Cement, dirt, rocks, motor oil, auto parts, engines, tires, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, paint, pesticides, herbicides, TVs, computers, and monitors are among the items that will not be accepted.

The bulky items can be taken out to the curb for regular trash pick-up this week.

There are options for disposing of some of the items not accepted in this clean-up program. Residents can call the city at (714) 522-3577 to schedule an e-waste pickup at their homes.

Besides the collection of e-waste, residents can call the city to dispose of their syringes and needles. There is also a collection center located at 1071 N. Blue Gum Street in Anaheim. This center can also be used to dispose of paint and other hazardous material.

Motor oil can be dropped off at Autozone at 5471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress 90630 (714) 995-4644 or at the Jiffy Lube at 4942 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress 90630 (714) 952-4709. If the oil is not mixed with water or any other contaminant, these recycle facilities will pay 16 cents per gallon of used oil.
