Orange County Election Results

SANTA ANA Calif. (FNP) – Although President Barack Obama won re-election this week, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan won the popular vote in Orange County. Governor Romney won 53 percent of the votes while President Obama received only 44 percent.

There were others candidates in the race. Former Governor of New Mexico and Libertarian Party candidate for President, Gary Johnson, received 1.2 percent; just 12,292 votes of the 999,000 ballots cast.

Green Party and Peace and Freedom Party candidates received even fewer votes; just 4,040 votes and 2,812 votes respectively. See the chart below for more information.

Katherine Smith and Brian O’Neal were elected to the governing board of the Anaheim School District. Annemarie Randle-Trejo was also chosen as a short-term member to the board.

Candice Kern and Brian Nakamura were elected to the Cypress School District. A recent controversy was sparked when the school board proposed selling or leasing empty schools to help prevent a shortfall in revenue. Both Brian and Candice were incumbents.

Two new members were elected to the Cypress City Council. Rob Johnson received 37 percent of the vote while Mariellen Yarc received 31 percent.

In La Palma, incumbent Steve Shanahan was edged-out by Peter Kim, Gerard Goedhart, and Robert Carruth.
