A Texas jury found Karmelo Anthony guilty of murder on Wednesday in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, who was killed at a high school track meet, according to reporting by WFAA.

The verdict came on the seventh day of trial. Sentencing proceedings began immediately after the conviction was announced, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.

Anthony was a teenager at the time of the stabbing at the track meet, where Metcalf was competing for a rival team. The case drew widespread national attention after the killing.
