Taskmaster's march across the globe shows no signs of slowing down. Polish broadcaster TVN, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, has greenlit a local version of the hit British comedy-entertainment format, making Poland the fourteenth country to produce its own take on the show.
The deal was announced as creator Alex Horne offered a characteristically wry reaction. "I think this has got a bit out of control, to be honest," he told Deadline. "But I am still thrilled that the people of Poland are finally going to see their top comedians casting dignity to one side as they strive to impress the Polish version of Greg Davies."
The Polish version will be produced by Avalon, which sells the format globally, in partnership with Constantin. The news arrives during a period of rapid international expansion for the franchise. Sweden's TV4 recently ordered two more seasons — its fourteenth and fifteenth — while Norway's WBD-backed version has been renewed after winning that country's TV Academy Award for Best Comedy Show in 2024. Iceland and Estonia both launched their own versions last month, and a Dutch edition is set to debut on RTL later this year.
"The strength of the format and its ability to deliver guaranteed comedy have driven its dedicated global following," said Paula Warwick, Head of Distribution at Avalon. The original UK series, hosted by Greg Davies with Horne as his assistant, remains a cornerstone of British comedy television and has clearly proven its ability to translate across cultures and languages with remarkable consistency.
