A canceled Fox crime series is getting a second act on Netflix. *The Cleaning Lady*, led by Élodie Yung of *Daredevil* fame, has been surging up the streamer's global charts since all four seasons became available on the platform.
Created by Miranda Kwok and adapted from the Argentine series *La chica que limpia*, the show follows a former surgeon turned undocumented immigrant whose life takes a dark turn when her young son is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. After witnessing a murder, she strikes a dangerous deal with a mob figure, trading her silence for protection and access to medical care. What starts as desperation quickly pulls her into a web of cartel operations and FBI scrutiny.
As Collider noted, the series blends the intimate character descent of *Breaking Bad* with the organized crime machinery explored in shows like *Peaky Blinders* and *MobLand*. Its central "fixer" isn't a hardened criminal but a mother driven to extremes by impossible circumstances.
*The Cleaning Lady* premiered in 2022 and earned praise for Yung's compelling lead performance. It ran for four seasons before Fox pulled the plug in June 2025. Now, its arrival on Netflix appears to be introducing the series to a much wider audience, proving once again that a cancellation doesn't always mean the end of a show's story.
