Patrick Muldoon, the actor best known for his roles on "Days of Our Lives," "Melrose Place," and in the 1997 film "Starship Troopers," has died at age 57, his representative confirmed to ABC News on Monday.
Muldoon rose to fame in the early 1990s when he originated the role of Austin Reed on "Days of Our Lives." He went on to star on the primetime soap opera "Melrose Place" and had a recurring role on "Saved by the Bell." On the big screen, he played Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi cult classic "Starship Troopers." Over his decades-long career, he accumulated nearly 100 acting credits, along with more than a dozen producing credits.
Former co-stars paid tribute throughout the day. Allison Sweeney, who worked with Muldoon on "Days of Our Lives," wrote on X that he was "a rare kind of person — brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit." She added that he made her feel at ease when she first started on the show. Lisa Rinna, who also starred alongside him on "Days," shared a photo of the pair with a broken heart emoji on Instagram.
The "Days of Our Lives" official account posted its own tribute, saying Muldoon "left an indelible mark in Salem both personally and professionally." Just days before his death, Muldoon had shared a post on Instagram promoting a new film he was working on called "Kockroach," starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz.
