Bayern Munich secured a record-extending 35th Bundesliga title on Sunday, dismantling Stuttgart 4-2 at home in a performance that underlined their total dominance of German football. Harry Kane added to his remarkable season tally, scoring his 32nd league goal as Bayern clinched the crown with four matches still to play.
Coach Vincent Kompany had rested several key players, including Kane, ahead of Wednesday's German Cup semifinal against Bayer Leverkusen. Stuttgart took early advantage, with Chris Fuhrich opening the scoring after 21 minutes. But Bayern roared back with three goals in a blistering seven-minute spell before halftime. Raphael Guerreiro equalized after a Jamal Musiala creation, then Luis Diaz set up goals for Nicolas Jackson and Alphonso Davies in quick succession.
Kane came off the bench to put the result beyond doubt early in the second half, and bags of "2026 Champions" T-shirts soon appeared on the sideline. Chema Andres pulled one back late for Stuttgart, but Bayern were already in celebration mode, as Al Jazeera reported.
The numbers behind Bayern's season are staggering. They have scored 109 goals, surpassing the all-time Bundesliga record set in 1971-72 with four games still remaining. Their goal difference of 80 exceeds their points tally of 79 — a feat no team has achieved in league history. Bayern have now won 13 of the last 14 Bundesliga titles, and no other German club has even reached double figures in championships.
Kane, who earlier this month became the first Englishman since 1930-31 to reach 50 goals in a single season across all competitions, still has a chance to break Robert Lewandowski's single-season record of 41 league goals. With four games left, the prolific striker needs 10 more — a tall order, but one few would bet against given the form he and Bayern have shown all year.
