The Minnesota Wild made a change in net for Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series Tuesday night. It didn't help.
The Colorado Avalanche beat the Wild 5-2, sending Minnesota to a 2-0 series deficit and extending Colorado's unbeaten run in this postseason to six straight games.
Filip Gustavsson replaced the Wild's previous starter in goal, but the switch produced no meaningful change in results. Colorado's offense moved through him with the same ease it had shown all playoffs, according to ESPN.
Minnesota now faces a steep climb. No team in NHL history has recovered from a 2-0 series deficit more than roughly 13 percent of the time, and the Wild have yet to find any formula to slow the Avalanche down. Their goaltending decisions heading into Game 3 are already uncertain.
