Victor Wembanyama was ejected from Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday after throwing an elbow at the jaw of Timberwolves forward Naz Reid early in the second quarter, according to ESPN. It was the first ejection of his NBA career.
With Wembanyama gone, Anthony Edwards took over, scoring 16 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to rally Minnesota and even the series with the short-handed Spurs.
The ejection came early enough that San Antonio spent the bulk of the game without its franchise player, and Edwards made them pay. His fourth-quarter surge gave the Timberwolves the momentum they needed to close out the game and pull the series level.
The series now stands tied as both teams prepare for a Game 5.
