The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the middle of something that has not happened to the franchise in 90 years. They have lost four straight games, each by four runs or more, and according to a report by The Sporting News, that has not occurred since July 1936.

The stat was surfaced by MLB Network's Sarah Langs, who posted on X that the streak is tied for the franchise's longest single-season run of that kind since the Dodgers joined the National League in 1890. Between the 1936 stretch and now, every other franchise in Major League Baseball had at least four such streaks, making the Dodgers' consistency over that span genuinely remarkable in the context of the sport.

The Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champions, and their sustained run of dominance over the past decade-plus is well documented. The franchise has been among the best in baseball not just recently, but for a very long time, which is part of what makes this stretch unusual. Over a 162-game season, stretches like this happen to nearly every team. For the Dodgers, apparently, they happen far less often than most.

The four-game skid, while notable for its historical rarity, does not point to any structural collapse. Los Angeles still carries a roster considered among the most talented in the league. The streak may end up as little more than a footnote in what could be another deep postseason run.

Still, for anyone paying attention to the numbers, the moment is worth noting. The Dodgers may not have another stretch like this for another 90 years.
