Before Cillian Murphy fans get the long-awaited Peaky Blinders film, they can catch one of the Irish actor's earlier and more overlooked performances. Red Eye, a 2005 thriller directed by horror legend Wes Craven, is coming to Starz on June 1, 2026.
According to Collider, the film stars Murphy alongside Rachel McAdams and Brian Cox of Succession. McAdams plays Lisa Reisert, a hotel manager who meets the charming Jackson Rippner, played by Murphy, at an airport and finds herself seated next to him on her flight home. What seems like a lucky coincidence turns into something far more threatening.
The film was a quiet commercial success on release, earning just under $100 million against a reported production budget of $26 million. Critics responded well at the time. Red Eye holds a certified fresh rating of 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers calling it "slick fun," "electric," and "a simple, straightforward, surprisingly effective thriller with a minimum of gimmickry."
Craven, who directed the film, was already an established Hollywood name by 2005, known for building some of the horror genre's most enduring franchises. His involvement gave the relatively contained thriller a level of pedigree that helped drive audiences to theaters.
More than two decades after its release, the film is getting a new home on Starz beginning June 1.
