Tom Hardy has been fired from Paramount+'s MobLand, the hit crime thriller that helped establish the streamer as a destination for prestige action television. Hardy, who plays Harry Da Souza, the fixer for the vicious Harrigan crime family, finished filming Season 2 but will not return if the show is renewed for a third season.
According to Collider, reports indicate Hardy was fired following serious clashes with executive producer and writer Jez Butterworth and the show's production company, 101 Studios. There have also been rumors of a conflict between Hardy and his co-star Helen Mirren, who plays Harrigan family matriarch Maeve.
The departure is a significant blow to a show that has been on an upward trajectory. MobLand debuted in March 2025 and gained an audience quickly enough that Season 2 was greenlit just three months after the premiere. Season 2 has since wrapped production, though no official release date has been announced.
Hardy's professional reputation has faced scrutiny before. On the set of Mad Max: Fury Road, co-star Charlize Theron claimed he often showed up late and frequently did not know his lines. The specific circumstances behind his MobLand exit have not been fully disclosed.
The situation leaves the show's creative team with difficult decisions ahead. Harry Da Souza has functioned as the central protagonist across both seasons, described as the moral anchor of a show that otherwise traffics in violence and moral ambiguity. Fans have invested in the character, and losing him without preparation could disrupt the show's narrative structure.
Several paths exist for the writers. Harry could be killed off on screen during Season 2, or the production could introduce a new fixer character to step into a similar role. Recasting the part seems unlikely given the grounded, realistic tone the series has established. Some fans have argued the show cannot continue without Hardy and should end after Season 2.
Season 2 still has no release date, meaning audiences will not see how the writers handle the situation for some time. Whether the exit was planned or forced upon the production remains unclear.
