Wales will be without two key players for its upcoming June friendlies after Fulham forward Harry Wilson and Swansea City defender Ben Cabango both withdrew from the squad.
According to BBC Sport, Wilson and Cabango pulled out of the squad ahead of matches against Ghana on June 2 and Romania the following Saturday. Wales host Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium before traveling to Bucharest to face Romania.
Wilson, 29, has been Wales' standout performer under manager Craig Bellamy. He has scored 17 career international goals, and 12 of those have come in the past three years alone. His absence is notable given how central he has become to the team's attack. Wilson is out of contract with Fulham this summer and has been linked with moves to Aston Villa, Everton, and Leeds United.
Cabango, 25, played 47 games for Swansea this season. He was an unused substitute in Wales' World Cup play-off defeat against Bosnia-Herzegovina in March.
The two players called up as replacements are both uncapped. Swansea winger Cameron Congreve, 22, spent this season on loan at Dundee. Attacking midfielder Ollie Bostock, 19, of West Bromwich Albion has two Wales Under-21 caps.
There is better injury news elsewhere in the squad. Captain Ben Davies has returned after a serious ankle injury that required surgery and kept him out since January. Tottenham Hotspur defender Davies turned 33 last month. Connor Roberts of Burnley could also make his first competitive appearance for Wales in nearly a year after injuring himself during World Cup qualifying against Belgium in June 2025 and later damaging his Achilles, which ruled him out for the entire 2025-26 club season. Roberts appeared as an unused substitute for Burnley's Under-21s earlier this month before returning to the first-team matchday squad on Sunday.
Centre-back Chris Mepham has also returned from injury. Missing from the squad are midfielders Jordan James and Rubin Colwill, plus forwards Liam Cullen and Mark Harris, all with minor injuries.
The friendlies serve as preparation ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with Ghana being one of England's group-stage opponents in the tournament.
