Xbox Game Pass has confirmed that Dune: Awakening will arrive on the service as a day-one release on September 22, 2026. The announcement came through the official Xbox website and spread quickly on Reddit, where Game Pass subscribers reacted with enthusiasm.
The game, developed and published by Funcom, is an open-world survival RPG set on Arrakis, the desert planet at the center of Frank Herbert's novels and Denis Villeneuve's film adaptations. Players can experience the story solo or in multiplayer, and can choose to align with either the Atreides or the Harkonnen. The game includes crafting, building, and combat alongside a cinematic storyline, according to a report by Screen Rant.
Dune: Awakening launched on PC earlier this year to solid reviews. The console version, now confirmed for September, will be accessible through both Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC on launch day.
For those who prefer to own the game outright, three editions are available for pre-order on the Xbox storefront. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, the Deluxe Edition at $69.99, and the Ultimate Edition at $89.99. A one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription runs $22.99, making the subscription route the most economical option for players who do not need ownership or the bonus content included in the paid tiers.
Game Pass currently counts roughly 35 million subscribers and supports play across Xbox Series X and S, PC, Android, iOS, select Samsung and LG televisions, Meta Quest, and web browsers. The service streams up to 1440p resolution and allows two accounts to play simultaneously on the standard plan, with four accounts on the Friends and Family plan.
The September 22 date puts Dune: Awakening among a growing lineup of day-one Game Pass titles for fall 2026. The delayed Fable reboot, also confirmed for Game Pass, will not arrive until next year.
