Three Elkhart players earned All-Northern Indiana Conference first-team honors in softball this season, and the program's head coach walked away with the conference's top coaching award.
Ava Walker, Bailey Harris-Rogers and Addie Reid were all selected to the All-NIC first team, according to Yahoo Sports. Walker is a junior infielder, Harris-Rogers is a senior catcher and Reid is a sophomore outfielder. Elkhart head coach Matt Walker was named the NIC's Coach of the Year.
Penn also had strong representation on the first team. Caitlyn Denny, a senior pitcher, Charlie Swiger, a sophomore infielder, Easton Masten, a sophomore infielder, and Logan Rumble, a senior outfielder, all earned first-team selections. Rumble was also named the league's MVP.
The full All-NIC first team included players from several schools across the conference. South Bend Riley senior pitcher Elliana Gonzalez earned a spot, as did South Bend St. Joseph seniors Kiley Weinberg and Bella Esquibel at infield positions. Addi Luther, a junior outfielder from New Prairie, and Julia McNellis, a junior utility player from South Bend Adams, also made the first team.
Several area players also landed on the second team. Penn's second-team selections included Carson Petty, Addyson Zachary, Addison Bogunia and Kaiya Garringer. Elkhart placed Fionna Topolski, Ava Sanders and Anna Knight on the second team as well.
