Scottie Scheffler managed to salvage an even-par 72 at the Memorial Tournament on Friday, but it came despite what he described as some of the worst shots he has hit in a couple of years, according to ESPN.
Scheffler is the top-ranked player in the world and has been the dominant force on the PGA Tour in recent seasons. A round of 72 keeps him in the field but puts him in a difficult position heading into the weekend at Muirfield Village.
The Memorial, hosted by Jack Nicklaus in Dublin, Ohio, is one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour schedule outside of the four majors. Scheffler will need to find his game quickly if he wants to contend over the final two rounds.
