Taylor Sheridan's CIA thriller Lioness is returning to Paramount+ on Sunday, August 2, with a third season that will run ten episodes, according to Screen Rant. That is two more episodes than either of the show's first two seasons.
Following the premiere, new episodes will roll out weekly through the end of September. The season was confirmed on June 5, 2026. Sheridan wrote all the new episodes himself and continues to serve as showrunner.
The series follows a team of female counterterrorism operatives working for the CIA. Zoe Saldana and Laysla De Oliveira lead the cast in the show's two principal roles. Returning supporting cast members include Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, and Michael Kelly. At least three new cast members are joining this season, including Yellowstone actor Ian Bohen and Lev Gorn.
Lioness season 2 posted strong ratings in 2024, and the show has built a large and loyal audience since its debut. The third season comes after Sheridan released a run of new Western series in early 2026.
The Agency, another spy thriller on Paramount+ starring Michael Fassbender, is also returning this month. According to Collider, all ten episodes of The Agency's second season will drop at once on June 21 at 3:00 a.m. ET. The first season was released weekly and received a 66% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The binge-drop format is a departure from that approach, and it is not yet clear what prompted the change.
