A new Star Wars video game is adding a planet to official franchise canon. The reveal came during Summer Game Fest, where developer Fuse Games released a story trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer and introduced a location that had never appeared in any Star Wars property before.
According to Screen Rant, the new planet is called Derven Acos, described as a custom-built arena designed specifically for the game's racing league. The location serves as a massive endgame challenge. As the game describes it, Derven Acos features every planetary condition racers will have encountered throughout the tour, combined into a gauntlet that will test a pilot's skills to the limit.
Because Star Wars canon is considered official across all media, a new location introduced in a video game carries the same weight as one introduced in a film or Disney+ series. Fans of the franchise are known to scrutinize every addition to the canon closely, and the Derven Acos reveal is already generating discussion.
Beyond the new planet, the Summer Game Fest trailer also revealed details about the game's story. Players take on the role of a character named Shade, described as a mysterious pilot with a personal grudge against the Bool family. Shade is enlisted by a character named Darius Pax in a bid to retain control over his racing league. With the help of an engineer named Hibi and what the game calls a certain legendary podracer, Shade sets out to unseat the corrupt reigning champion.
The trailer also showed various podracers being piloted outside of the Mos Espa Circuit, along with a look at an Arcade Mode featuring competitive online multiplayer.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set for global release on October 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Pre-orders are open now across major storefronts.
