Cam Skattebo was back on the field Wednesday for the New York Giants, taking part in drills at the team's mandatory minicamp eight months after surgery to repair a dislocated ankle. Head coach John Harbaugh had one small request for the enthusiastic running back.
"Maybe no back flips," Harbaugh said.
According to a report by The Record and NorthJersey.com Giants beat writer Art Stapleton, Skattebo participated in both position and team drills and looked healthy. Harbaugh said he was pleased with what he saw.
"I was happy," Harbaugh said. "He was telling me today, and the trainer told me, too, that he was going to get some plays in group and plays in team, and I was like, 'that's where you want him to be.' He's worked super hard, super hard. I did mention maybe no back flips out here today. We agreed."
Skattebo suffered the ankle injury during Week 8 of the 2025 season in a loss at the Philadelphia Eagles. Before going down, he had established himself as the team's primary back, leading the Giants in rushing yards with 410 and scoring five rushing touchdowns in eight games. He was considered one of New York's most promising young players alongside starting quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The former Arizona State star is expected to be ready for the Giants' Week 1 home game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
