Nintendo Switch Online subscribers are facing higher prices starting next month. All tiers of the service are set to increase beginning July 1, 2026, according to Screen Rant, with the announcement made through Nintendo's official account on X and on Nintendo.com.
The confirmed price changes apply to Nintendo's Japanese storefront. Nintendo of America has not yet made an official announcement, so U.S. subscribers are not yet directly affected. However, if the pattern holds from past price changes at other gaming services, similar increases are expected to roll out in additional regions before the end of the year.
As one example of the scale of the increases, the Family Plan currently costs 4,500 yen, or roughly $28 USD. Under the new pricing, that same plan will cost 5,800 yen, or around $35 USD.
The service itself is not changing. Nintendo Switch Online will continue to offer regular drops of new games, free trial offers, and limited-time bonuses. Subscribers will simply be paying more for the same package.
Even with the increases, Nintendo Switch Online remains a lower-priced annual subscription compared to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass. Its more limited games library is widely cited as the reason its pricing has historically stayed below those competitors.
The Nintendo Switch originally launched on March 3, 2017, at a retail price of $299.99. The price increase news follows a separate recent announcement that the Switch 2 console itself is also going up in price in September, adding another financial consideration for Nintendo fans heading into the fall.
