The Minnesota Timberwolves are sending Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade that will also move Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Minnesota will receive the No. 33 pick from Brooklyn as part of the deal. The trade involves three franchises and reshapes roster situations heading into the draft and offseason.

Randle spent this past season with the Timberwolves after being acquired in an earlier trade. He is a veteran forward who has averaged strong offensive numbers throughout his career. Brooklyn will add him to a roster that has been in an extended rebuild.

Claxton, a center who has been with the Nets, will move to Chicago as part of the same transaction. The Bulls have been looking to add size and rim protection, and Claxton fits that need.

For Minnesota, the trade clears significant salary and moves the No. 28 pick out while bringing back a second-round selection at No. 33. The Timberwolves have been active in reshaping their roster around their core of Anthony Edwards and others.

Brooklyn continues to collect assets and young pieces as part of a long-term rebuild. Adding Randle gives them a veteran offensive player while they continue developing younger talent.

The deal is set to be completed around the time of the NBA draft, which takes place this week.
