Landry Shamet is staying with the NBA champion New York Knicks. A person with knowledge of the details told the Associated Press on Monday that Shamet agreed to a four-year deal worth $24 million.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity since there was no announcement of the new contract.
Shamet signed with New York late last offseason and became a trusted member of coach Mike Brown's rotation. He made an impact on both ends of the floor, contributing with outside shooting and defense throughout the season.
His biggest moment came in the Eastern Conference finals. The Knicks trailed Cleveland by 22 points in the fourth quarter of Game 1. Shamet made the tying three-pointer during that comeback. He then went on to hit 11 of 12 from behind the arc in that series. He shot 47.5% on threes throughout the postseason.
Shamet is the second key reserve the Knicks have committed to keeping since winning the championship. The team also signed guard Jose Alvarado to a multiyear deal. Backup center Mitchell Robinson remains a free agent.
