Yung Miami has now charted higher as a solo artist than she ever did as part of City Girls. Her single Spend Dat jumped from number 25 to number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated July 11, making it her first top 20 hit in any configuration of her career.
According to Billboard, the milestone clears the previous high-water mark set by City Girls, the rap duo she formed with JT. Their best chart performance was Act Up, which peaked at number 26 in June 2019. Spend Dat has now gone further than that.
This is Yung Miami's third solo Hot 100 entry. Her first, Rap Freaks, debuted and peaked at number 81 in November 2021. A collaboration with Latto and Lola Young called Don't Play With It reached number 69 in April 2023. Spend Dat, released on Yung Miami/Uptown/Republic Records, is in its sixth week on the chart.
The numbers behind the rise are across the board. In the tracking week of June 26 through July 2, the single logged 8.1 million official streams, a 1% increase from the prior week. Digital download sales rose 15% week-over-week to 1,000 units. Radio airplay audience impressions surged 21% to 21.7 million, up from 17.9 million the previous week.
Those radio gains pushed Spend Dat to the number 1 position on both the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rap Airplay charts, rising from the runner-up spot on both. The song also claimed the Greatest Gainer designation on each chart, which goes to the track with the largest increase for the week.
City Girls went on hiatus following their 2023 album RAW, with both members shifting focus to solo work. "It just wasn't working no more," Yung Miami told Complex at the time. "So I think we both was at a point where we was just like, we should probably just do our own sh–."
Spend Dat's trajectory through the summer suggests that bet is paying off.
