Enola Holmes 3 is currently the number one movie on Netflix worldwide, according to Flixpatrol, giving Henry Cavill his first franchise hit since his time as Superman in the DC Extended Universe.
Cavill reprises the role of Sherlock Holmes in the third film, following 2020's Enola Holmes and 2022's Enola Holmes 2. Both earlier films centered primarily on Millie Bobby Brown's titular character, with Cavill's Sherlock appearing as her older brother. According to Screen Rant, his interpretation stood out from the start by presenting Holmes not as a cold, aloof genius but as a caring sibling working to reconnect with his family.
For many Cavill supporters, the gap since his Superman exit has been a long one. He last appeared briefly as Clark Kent in the post-credits scene of Black Adam in 2022. Since then, he headlined Argylle and appeared in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, both released in 2024, but neither film developed into an ongoing series.
The success of Enola Holmes 3 has reignited calls online for a spinoff series centered entirely on Cavill's version of Sherlock Holmes. Nothing official has been announced by Netflix. Still, the trilogy's performance suggests the streaming platform has the foundation of a potential cinematic universe already in place.
Cavill's portrayal of Superman, particularly in 2013's Man of Steel, remains a reference point for his fanbase and is closely tied to the ongoing RestoreTheSnyderverse movement. For audiences who first discovered him through the DCEU and have been waiting for him to anchor another long-running property, the Enola Holmes trilogy now represents the closest thing to that.
The film is available to stream on Netflix now.
