Mason Haynes, a longtime bodyguard to the Kardashian family, died on July 4 in a car crash. He was 52. His death was confirmed through a GoFundMe fundraiser created to support his wife and two children. He would have turned 53 on July 6.
According to The Wrap, Haynes worked with several members of the Kardashian family over the years, including Kim Kardashian, her ex-husband Kanye West, and family matriarch Kris Jenner. His client list extended well beyond the family. He also worked with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, comedian and actor Kevin Hart, and musician Charlie Puth.
The fundraiser described the outpouring of messages that followed his death. "Since his passing, hundreds of messages have poured in from people whose lives Mason changed. Reading them, one thing becomes impossible to ignore," it read. "Everyone describes the same man. A man who made people feel welcome from the moment they met him. A man who would cross countries to help a friend. A man who never let a loved one down and who saw the deep qualities in people that others often overlooked. A protector. A mentor. A prankster. A giant in every sense of the word, with an even bigger heart."
The fundraiser states its goal as helping to "ensure Mason gets the send-off he truly deserves" and to "help ease some of the immediate financial pressures that inevitably follows such a sudden and devastating loss." Haynes is survived by his wife Fay, daughter Brooke, and son Noah.
His employer, Trojan Security UK, posted a tribute on Instagram. The company called Haynes "an absolute legend in the Close Protection game." The post read: "Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high Brother."
