Tracy Spiridakos spent seven seasons on Chicago P.D. as detective Hailey Upton. Now, less than a month from now, she returns to television in a very different setting.

According to Collider, Spiridakos will lead Anna Pigeon, a new drama on USA Network premiering August 7. The series is based on Nevada Barr's mystery book series and follows a former city dweller who, after losing her husband, leaves her old life behind and becomes a national park ranger.

Spiridakos joined Chicago P.D. in Season 4 and remained with the NBC procedural through Season 11. Her character, Hailey Upton, moved through major storylines over those years, including becoming a detective, getting married, and getting divorced. When Upton departed the show, she left Chicago to start over elsewhere. A later One Chicago crossover confirmed she had joined the FBI.

Spiridakos said she left Chicago P.D. to pursue other creative opportunities. She appeared in a missing persons thriller film before the Anna Pigeon series was announced.

In Anna Pigeon, her character is described as someone whose entire sense of self is upended by grief. She relocates and takes a job as a park ranger, but she cannot leave her instincts behind. When crimes occur within her park, Pigeon investigates, which puts her in direct conflict with other law enforcement agencies that dispute her authority over the scenes.

The series marks part of USA Network's effort to rebuild its scripted programming lineup. The August 7 premiere date is now confirmed.
