Liam Gallagher does not want to make a new Oasis album, and he was not quiet about why.

In a back-and-forth with a fan over the weekend, Gallagher responded to a follower who pushed for the band's first collection of new material since 2008's Dig Out Your Soul. The fan wrote that a new Oasis album would "actually change lives." Gallagher was not persuaded.

"NO I'm just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn't sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour cure bad breath and constipation for the nation if it doesn't turn back time for Cher and some other s–t," Gallagher wrote, according to Billboard. "let's just to some gigs and be happy thank you."

A separate fan asked what new Oasis music would sound like if it did happen. Gallagher had a clear answer. "I'd like to think it'd still sound like oasis and we hadn't turned into a bunch of electronic umbrellas trying so desperately to keep up with the KIDS do you get me bruv," he wrote.

The current Oasis lineup includes Liam, older brother and guitarist Noel Gallagher, guitarists Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and Gem Archer, and bassist Andy Bell. The band reunited in 2025 for a world tour that received widespread praise.

Oasis and the band's song Wonderwall were in the news last week for another reason. The 1996 Billboard Hot 100 No. 8 hit became an unofficial anthem for England's run to third place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. One critic on X wrote that at least fans would not have to hear the song for a while. Gallagher pushed back and appeared to confirm upcoming shows in the process.

"You'll be hearing it all nxt year you SP–KBUBBLE," he wrote, which Billboard described as sounding like a nonofficial confirmation of widely rumored 2027 tour plans. A spokesperson for Oasis had not returned Billboard's request for comment on possible 2027 tour dates at press time.

There is also a documentary coming. Oasis recently released the first trailer for Don't Look Back in Anger, which will chronicle the band's Live '25 comeback tour. The film arrives in theaters and select Imax cinemas on September 11, then streams globally on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States later this year.
