Robert Pattinson's new film Primetime will open in theaters nationwide on September 25, distributor A24 announced.
The film secured a spot in the Venice Film Festival lineup before the release date was set, according to Deadline.
Primetime is directed by documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim and written by Ajon Singh. The story follows NBC Dateline correspondent Chris Hansen in 2006 as he works to produce To Catch a Predator, the television program in which Hansen and a team of decoys posing as minors helped law enforcement catch suspected child predators.
Pattinson plays Hansen. He also produced the film alongside Brighton McCloskey through their production company Icki Eneo Arlo. Additional producers include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone.
Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and musician Phoebe Bridgers also star in the film.
September 25 is a crowded date at the multiplex. Other wide releases the same day include Paramount's Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt and directed by David Ayer, Disney and Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame Encore, DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island, Bleecker Street's horror title Victorian Psycho, and Roadside Attractions' horror film Crawlers.
