Trey Songz will not serve jail time following his arrest last December over an alleged assault at a New York City nightclub.

The singer, whose legal name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was sentenced to one year of conditional discharge for a non-criminal violation of second-degree harassment, according to Rolling Stone, citing Billboard. If he remains compliant with the terms of the sentence for the next 365 days, he will not face incarceration or probation.

Neverson had originally been charged with harassment and misdemeanor attempted assault after Manhattan prosecutors accused him of striking an employee in the face at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on December 4. After completing mental health treatment and meeting court-ordered conditions, he was allowed to withdraw his prior misdemeanor plea and remain convicted only of the lesser, non-criminal violation.

A second, separate incident also led to charges. Neverson was accused of breaking approximately $1,500 worth of property, including hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas at Mira restaurant and hookah lounge in Manhattan. He was initially charged with a felony count of second-degree criminal mischief in connection with that incident.

His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, said in a prior statement that the Mira incident was not his client's fault. "Trey was confronted by individuals who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him. His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion," Schuster said. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office later dropped the felony count related to that incident.

The conditional discharge for the nightclub charge runs 365 days from sentencing.
