The Chicago Blackhawks are bringing back one of their most iconic players. Patrick Kane has agreed to a two-year contract with the team that made him a star, according to ESPN. The deal carries an average annual value of $8 million.

Kane spent the bulk of his NHL career in Chicago before leaving in 2023. His return marks a notable moment for a franchise that has been rebuilding since his departure. The Blackhawks won three Stanley Cup championships during Kane's first run with the team, in 2010, 2013, and 2015.

The two-year structure of the deal gives both sides a medium-term commitment as Chicago continues to develop younger players around veterans like Kane. At $8 million per year, the contract places Kane among the higher-paid forwards in the league despite his time away from the Blackhawks.

No additional terms of the deal were disclosed.
