Nike released a new colorway of the Air Jordan 4 on Saturday, timed to San Diego Comic Con. The sneakers, called the Air Jordan 4 Retro Comic, dropped at 10 a.m. ET and are available on Nike.com.
According to Variety, the shoes retail for $230 and are available in unisex sizing. Smaller sizes for big kids, little kids, and babies and toddlers are also available, starting at $90.
The Air Jordan 4 was originally released in 1989. The new Comic colorway uses an off-white, anthracite, and fire pink palette and is built from a mixture of authentic and synthetic leather. Design details include the Jumpman logo rendered as a superhero on the tongue, head-turning netting, the Nike Air logo on each heel, a transparent air bubble in the midsole, and prominent flash wings on the fire pink collar.
The Comic Con timing connects the shoe to the event's pop culture theme. The sneaker's superhero-styled details and comic book aesthetic align with the convention's focus on comics, film, and gaming.
Nike Members receive free shipping on orders over $50. Non-members need to spend more than $75 to qualify for free shipping. Membership is free and includes benefits such as early access to new releases, special discounts, and no-receipt returns.
The Air Jordan line traces back to Michael Jordan's years in the NBA and has continued to generate new releases and updated colorways well after his retirement. The Air Jordan 4 Retro Comic marks one of the more visually distinct releases in the line's recent history.
