Vita Vea wants out of Tampa Bay.

The two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle has requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after failed attempts at a contract extension, according to ESPN. His agent, Collin Roberts, confirmed the request on Monday.

Vea has spent his entire NFL career in Tampa Bay since the Buccaneers selected him in the first round of the 2018 draft. He developed into one of the most disruptive interior linemen in the league, earning Pro Bowl honors and becoming a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay defense during the team's Super Bowl run under Tom Brady.

The failed contract extension talks appear to be the breaking point. Roberts reached out to ESPN directly to confirm the move, signaling that the situation has moved past quiet negotiation and into public territory. Teams around the league will now know Vea is available.

The Buccaneers are entering a critical stretch of roster building. Tampa Bay has been navigating life after Brady while trying to remain competitive in the NFC South. Losing Vea, who anchors the interior of their defensive line, would be a significant blow to a defense that has relied on him to control the line of scrimmage.

No specific trade destinations have been reported, and it is not yet clear what kind of contract extension Vea was seeking or where talks broke down. The timing puts the Buccaneers in a difficult spot, as training camp is underway and the regular season is approaching.

Vea turns 30 in February. For a team looking to acquire a proven, experienced interior lineman, he represents a rare option. For the Buccaneers, the question is whether to trade him now and get something in return or work toward a resolution before the situation hardens further.
