The Cleveland Browns have locked up one of their most important defensive players. Five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward agreed to a two-year, $62.2 million contract extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal includes $52.3 million in guaranteed money.

Ward has been a cornerstone of the Browns' secondary since Cleveland selected him fourth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Over his eight seasons, he has developed into one of the more durable and consistent cornerbacks in the AFC North, earning five Pro Bowl selections and establishing himself as a franchise defensive back.

The average annual value of the extension comes in at $31.1 million per year, placing Ward among the higher-paid cornerbacks in the league. The $52.3 million in guarantees reflects the Browns' confidence in keeping him healthy and productive through the life of the deal.

Cleveland has faced uncertainty at several positions heading into the 2026 season, but Ward's extension removes one major question mark from the roster. The Browns now have their top cornerback secured for at least two more years, giving their defense a reliable piece to build around.

The agreement was reached as NFL teams continue to navigate the summer roster-building period ahead of the regular season.
