Palantir stock gained more than 2% in premarket trading Monday ahead of the company's fiscal second-quarter results, which were set to be released after the closing bell.

Investors have been focused on two main areas going into the report: the pace of new commercial agreements, which have accelerated in 2026, and the renewal of overseas contracts. Both will be watched closely as signals of whether Palantir can sustain the growth investors have been pricing in.

The data and analytics software company has had a difficult year overall. Palantir stock is down more than 30% year to date, according to Yahoo Finance, after the company got caught up in an AI disruption scare earlier in the year that hit the broader software sector.

One development that has helped stabilize investor confidence is the Pentagon's designation of Palantir's Maven Smart System as an official program of record earlier this year. That designation locks in a bigger role for the company in U.S. military AI projects for years to come, providing a degree of revenue stability that pure commercial software companies lack.

Wall Street remains broadly bullish on the stock. D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria noted in July that Palantir holds a key advantage through its orchestration tool, which gives the company the ability to switch between AI models with minimal disruption. Luria carries a Buy rating on the stock with a $175 price target, well above current trading levels.

Palantir's market position in AI infrastructure has drawn continued attention from institutional investors even as the stock has struggled in 2026. The company sits at the intersection of government and commercial AI deployment, a combination that analysts say is difficult for competitors to replicate quickly.

Monday's earnings report will be the first major data point investors have had since the Maven program designation and the acceleration in commercial agreements. The results will show whether those tailwinds are translating into revenue and whether management's guidance for the remainder of the fiscal year holds.
