Bijan Robinson is now the highest-paid running back in NFL history.
The Atlanta Falcons and Robinson reached agreement on a three-year extension worth up to $75 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who both reported the deal. The contract pushes Robinson past every running back who came before him in terms of total value.
Robinson was selected by Atlanta in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas, where he had established himself as one of the most coveted offensive prospects in college football. The Falcons made him the centerpiece of their backfield from the start, and the extension signals that the organization intends to keep him there for the foreseeable future.
The deal was reached during training camp, a period when roster decisions and contract negotiations across the league tend to accelerate. Several other players chose a different path this week, stepping away from the game entirely rather than continuing their careers.
Robinson, still in the early years of his professional career, has now secured generational money at a position that has historically been difficult to pay at the top of the market. The $75 million figure includes incentives, but the base structure alone puts him at the top of the position in terms of guaranteed money and average annual value.
The Falcons now head deeper into camp with their backfield situation locked up for at least the next three seasons.
