Rod Stewart has canceled his Cleveland show, his second consecutive cancellation this week, after doctors ordered him to rest following what venues described as a minor medical procedure.
According to Billboard, Cleveland's Rocket Arena posted a statement Tuesday that read: "Following a period of monitoring, doctors have advised Rod Stewart to rest for at least 48 hours. As a result, his performance tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 11th at Rocket Arena in Cleveland has been canceled. Rod is disappointed to miss the show and appreciates everyone's understanding. He looks forward to returning to the stage soon." Refunds are available at point of purchase.
The Cleveland cancellation came less than 24 hours after Stewart pulled out of a Sunday night show at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati. That venue cited an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention. A spokesperson for Stewart had not returned Billboard's request for comment on either cancellation or on the singer's current medical condition as of press time.
Stewart has been on his One Last Time tour for the past year. At the time of the Cleveland cancellation, two more tour dates remained on the books: August 14 at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines and August 15 at the Morton Amphitheater in Kansas City. After those shows, Stewart is scheduled to begin his Encore Shows residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on August 18.
This is not the first time the tour has run into trouble. On June 19, Stewart was forced to pause a show at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City after appearing unwell on stage. He doubled over and used an oxygen tank to assist with his breathing before the show could continue. A week before that, he canceled a June 12 show in San Diego less than an hour before showtime due to a reported acute upper respiratory infection causing laryngitis. He was then photographed at the Scotland World Cup match in Boston shortly after that cancellation, which drew public backlash.
Following the Las Vegas residency run, Stewart is scheduled to resume his North American tour on September 1 with a show at the Minnesota State Fair in Falcon Heights. The itinerary also includes the Rivinia Festival in Illinois, a run of shows in Mexico, and back-to-back nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on September 2 and 3.
