The kit, which the club and its fans refer to as "Spurple," uses two shades of purple with white sponsor logos and accents, along with a subtle geometric pattern on the fabric. Spurs announced the release on social media, writing "Bringing a club classic into the present."
According to Yahoo Sports, purple has a recurring history as a Tottenham third-kit color and tends to be popular with the fanbase when the club returns to it. The outlet described several elements of the design positively, including the two-tone color combination, the white detailing, and the vertical stripes. The collar, however, drew criticism, with the report calling a white accent on it off-putting and describing it as the one element that kept the kit from being considered a potential classic.
The piece drew a comparison to a previous Tottenham third kit in a two-tone green design worn during a Champions League semifinal run, noting that kit had also divided opinion and that its legacy depended heavily on what the team accomplished while wearing it. The same standard, the report suggested, may apply here.
The kits are available now, with the club set to wear them during the upcoming season.
