David Letterman is returning to Netflix before the end of the year, and his next four guests have already been announced. Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Jimmy Kimmel and climber Alex Honnold will each sit down with the late-night veteran for Season 7 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, the streamer confirmed.
According to Variety, the four-episode season will bring the show's total to 35 episodes, including specials. The series has aired 31 episodes across six seasons and four specials since its debut. Each episode features a longform interview with a single guest.
All four subjects arrive with something to talk about. Damon is deep in the press tour for The Odyssey, which is expected to be a major awards contender. Roberts, a favorite guest on Letterman's old network talk shows, has Sam Esmail's Panic Carefully scheduled for early 2027. Kimmel is on summer break from Jimmy Kimmel Live! and is coming off a year in which he was briefly suspended and the sitting president called repeatedly for his firing. Honnold, a professional climber, starred in Netflix's Skyscraper Live earlier this year, completing what the show described as a death-defying climb.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Letterman and Kimmel, both outspoken late-night figures, will likely discuss CBS's cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Season 6, which premiered in December 2025, featured Michael B. Jordan, MrBeast and Jason Bateman. That season has been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special category. According to Deadline, Letterman won that category in 2024 for his John Mulaney episode but lost last year to Conan O'Brien Must Go. This year he will compete against The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Tucci In Italy and Jordan Klepper Fingers The Pulse: Give The Man A Prize.
The show received a two-season renewal last year. It is produced by Jax Media/Imagine Entertainment and Letterman's Worldwide Pants, Inc. Executive producers include Tom Keaney, Mary Barclay, Justin Wilkes, Michael Steed, Isabel Richardson and Yolanda T. Cochran.
Past guests on the series have included Barack Obama, Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jay-Z, Robert Downey Jr., Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Billie Eilish and Caitlin Clark. The first six seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.
No premiere date for Season 7 has been announced beyond a general late-2026 window.
