Gerard Butler's Den of Thieves is leaving Netflix in September, giving subscribers a limited window to watch one of his more commercially successful films.

The 2018 film follows an alcoholic law enforcement officer who becomes fixated on taking down a gang of bank robbers in Los Angeles. According to Collider, the film grossed $80 million worldwide against a reported budget of $30 million.

Den of Thieves was among the films directly inspired by Michael Mann's Heat, the 1995 crime epic starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. It was not as critically acclaimed as that film, but it found a large audience and outperformed several films that drew more favorable reviews.

Collider noted that a more recent film in the same lineage, Crime 101, starred Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo and was released in theaters earlier this year to strong critical response. Butler's film did not earn the same notices but surpassed it commercially.

Butler continues to release films theatrically. His most recent release, along with Jason Statham's latest, was directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Both films were described as box office misfires.

Den of Thieves has an exact removal date of September 2026. Viewers who want to catch it before it goes will need to act before then.
