Slipknot has confirmed that DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson is out of the band, ending an association that stretched back nearly three decades.

According to Variety, the band posted a statement on Instagram that has since been taken down. "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson," the post read. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998, a year before the band released their first studio album. The reason for his departure has not been made public. News of the split was first reported by TMZ in late July.

On the same day that TMZ reported the news, guitarist Jim Root posted a message on his Instagram story. "Don't believe everything you read," Root wrote. "Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there's more information."

Wilson's exit marks another significant loss for the band's longtime lineup. Craig Jones left in 2023. Chris Fehn departed in 2019. Drummer Joey Jordison died in 2021, and bassist Paul Gray died in 2020.

Slipknot's catalog includes the albums Slipknot, Iowa, Vol. 3, All Hope Is Gone, .5: The Gray Chapter, We Are Not Your Kind, and The End, So Far, which was released in 2022. Their most recent live performance was in July 2025 at Inkcarceration, a music and tattoo festival in Ohio.

The remaining members of Slipknot have not addressed what Wilson's departure means for the future of the band.
