Ariana Grande surprised fans at London's O2 Arena on Sunday night when Cynthia Erivo walked out on stage to join her.
The two Wicked co-stars, both dressed in all white, performed the anthem For Good together on a tour set designed to look like a cross-section of a moss-covered house. According to Billboard, they also reprised their mash-up of Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again, which the pair first performed together on a primetime Wicked TV special last November.
In video from the show, as Grande sang the line "But I know I'm who I am today/ Because I knew you," Erivo put her hand to her chest and said, "Oh my God."
The appearance marked the second night of Grande's 10-show run at the O2, which is scheduled to wrap on September 1. It was also Grande's first time performing in London in seven years. The London dates are the final stretch of her Eternal Sunshine tour.
Grande announced earlier this year that she plans to take a break from public life once the tour concludes. A spokesperson for the singer said in a statement that she "will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour." The statement added that she "looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny."
The statement described the tour as a positive experience. "This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much," the spokesperson said.
The London run began just weeks after Grande announced she would also be dropping out of a starring role in the planned West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park With George, which had been expected to open next summer. Erivo is a London native, which made her appearance at the O2 a fitting addition to the final leg of the tour.
Eight more shows remain before Grande steps back from the spotlight.
