Scottie Scheffler walked away from the 2026 St. Jude Championship with an eight-shot victory, posting rounds of 68-61-68-66 for a final score of 17 under par. Si Woo Kim finished in solo second place.

According to Yahoo Sports, the St. Jude Championship served as the first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, featuring the top 70 golfers in the game. Scheffler entered the event having won only one other tournament this season, the American Express back in January, with no major titles to his name in 2026.

Coming in, Scheffler was listed as the favorite at +450 odds. Those odds proved well-founded. His second-round 61 gave him separation from the field early, and he never relinquished the lead.

The St. Jude win advances Scheffler to the BMW Championship, the next leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which features the top 50 golfers on tour. Scheffler and Rory McIlroy had already secured their spots in that round before the tournament began.

McIlroy, listed at +1000 odds heading into the St. Jude, finished 66th. After the tournament, he suggested how he hadn't had many "reps" leading up to the tournament and he couldn't find his swing. McIlroy clearly doesn't care about the FedEx Cup in the same way he prioritizes major championships.

Viktor Hovland, who had been selected as a long-shot pick at +3600, finished tied for 19th. Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, and Tommy Fleetwood, all listed between +1800 and +1950 heading into the week, did not factor into the top of the leaderboard in a meaningful way.

The BMW Championship is the penultimate event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs before the Tour Championship, which determines the overall FedEx Cup winner. Scheffler's dominant performance at St. Jude positions him as the player to beat heading into the final stretch of the season.
