Cameron Diaz's next film now has a release date. Netflix announced that Bad Day, an action-comedy directed by Jake Szymanski, will begin streaming December 11.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diaz leads a large ensemble cast that includes Danielle Brooks, Rhenzy Feliz, John Higgins, Mark Duplass, Jessica Belkin, Ed O'Neill, Rob Corddry, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Schwartz, Retta, Emma Pearson, P.J. Byrne, Sherry Cola, Edi Patterson and Beck Bennett.
In the film, Diaz plays a single mom who endures the toughest day of her life while trying to keep a promise to her daughter. Szymanski, who previously directed Jury Duty, helmed the project from a script by Laura Solon. Beau Bauman produces for Good One Productions, with Solon and Mark Moran executive producing.
Diaz took a ten-year break from lead acting roles before returning to star in Netflix's 2024 feature Back in Action opposite Jamie Foxx. Bad Day marks her second consecutive Netflix project since that return.
The actress has spoken carefully about her approach to taking on new work. "I don't know how I view it. It's hard to say," she told Empire around the time of Back in Action. "If I say it then it becomes this thing. I reserve the right to say no to doing a movie ever again, and I reserve the right to say yes if I decide to. I'm not defining anything. I'm just open to whatever makes sense for me and my family at any given moment."
Diaz is known for earlier films including There's Something About Mary and Charlie's Angels. Bad Day arrives December 11 on Netflix.
