Kid Cudi is moving fast as a filmmaker. The rapper and actor, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, announced on X that he is already preparing to shoot his second feature film, just months after completing his directorial debut.
According to Deadline, Cudi posted the news on Saturday. "I shoot my next film in a few weeks and I'm so fuckin hyped," he wrote. "Sometimes I cant believe this is all happening. Officially a filmmaker. Get ready. Next year we introduce em to writer/director Cud."
In a follow-up post, Cudi laid out his 2027 plan. "Two movies in a year. Both very different from the other. Doe, my directorial debut, will premiere next year, and my next film will premiere in the late summer."
Doe, the first film, went into production in Los Angeles in April. Cudi described it as "a really intense drama, 24hrs in the life an addict who's living on the streets in LA." He stars in the film alongside Mark Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott and Brandon Perea. Cudi is also recording original songs for the project.
His second film takes a different direction entirely. "And my next film is a horror/thriller. Lot of laughs, but its fuckin gnarly. I am a firm believer in mixing horror with comedy. So I incorporated that into it," he said.
The two-Grammy winner has had a full year outside of filmmaking as well. After wrapping Doe in April, he headlined his Rebel Ragers Tour, which ran through June.
Both films are set to premiere in 2027, with Doe expected earlier in the year and the horror-thriller arriving in late summer.
