Four actors have joined the cast of One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, the officially titled third season of Netflix's live-action pirate series. The announcements came Sunday during the One Piece Day stage show in Tokyo, Japan, with production already wrapped in Cape Town, South Africa.
Emilio Sakraya, known for the German series Rheingold, will play Koza. Omid Abtahi, who appeared in The Mandalorian, takes the role of Toto. Jamie Ward, from The Gentlemen, plays Pell. And Nabeel Khan, known for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, plays Chaka.
According to Variety, the season's returning cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Also returning are Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, Mikaela Hoover as Chopper, Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefartari Cobra.
Previously announced new additions to the season include Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger, and Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1. Deadline noted that additional cast will be announced at a later date.
The season picks up after the events of season two. War is coming for Luffy and the Straw Hat crew in the desert kingdom of Alabasta, Princess Vivi's homeland. A rebellion threatens to tear the nation apart, driven in secret by Sir Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and his underground syndicate Baroque Works. The Straw Hats must stop a civil war and defeat a powerful warlord to save Vivi's kingdom.
Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. The series was created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Executive producers include series creator Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, along with Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.
