Soundgarden will headline the halftime show at the Seattle Seahawks' NFC West season home opener on September 9, with Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen performing alongside them. The game is a rematch against the New England Patriots, who the Seahawks defeated in Super Bowl LX.

According to Billboard, a promo image for the halftime show featured Soundgarden members Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd posing alongside Momsen and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready. McCready will perform the National Anthem before the game on behalf of the Washington Innocence Project.

Momsen has performed with Soundgarden several times since the death of lead singer Chris Cornell in May 2017 at age 52. In November of last year, she stepped in for Cornell at the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, performing "Rusty Cage" and "Black Hole Sun." She also appeared with the band at the "I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" benefit concert in January 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles.

The September 9 show at Lumen Field marks another return engagement for Momsen with the band.

In addition to the halftime performance, the Seahawks announced a pregame Salute 250 Kickoff Concert featuring country singer Luke Bryan, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT, three hours before kickoff.

Soundgarden also recently revealed they are mixing a new album featuring the final group of songs recorded with Cornell. Drummer Matt Cameron said the surviving members are working with producer Terry Date on what is planned as an eight-track LP. The songs are based on demos the group began working on in 2013 and 2014, and then again in 2015 and 2016, before what would be their final tour with Cornell in 2017.
